Principal Message

Message from Principal

Hello!  My name is Bill Garrett and I will be in my first year as your high school principal.  A big welcome to all students as they return for the 2018-19 school year.  I am excited to be at Eastern High School and look forward to getting to know our students. In our opening convocation I stressed the following with our students:  1) Be at school and be tuned in while you are here, 2) Do what you are supposed to do while here, 3) Show respect for yourself, other students, and adults in the building, and 4) Treat others as you want to be treated.  Harassment/bullying of others will not be tolerated. I believe if we all adhere to these four items we are going to have a great year!

Please take a few moments to browse our high school page and the district website as well.  You will find important information on these pages that will keep you and your student informed as to various events and great news coming from our building.  Also we hope that you will follow us on Twitter @EHSWARRIORS1 and on Facebook @EasternBrownHighSchool. We will be posting celebrations, successes, and important information on both.

As you know by now there has been many changes this year.  Starting and ending times have changed, but everyone seems to be adjusting well.  I would like to remind everyone about our “Flex” period at the end of the school day.   Flex Period begins at 2:10 each day.  During this time students can stay for homework help, individual help, club and organization meetings, EOC tutoring, or other activities.  Students who choose to stay must be in an organized and supervised activity.  This is a great opportunity for students and we hope that all of them take advantage of this time.

During our Warrior Bell students will have structured activities designed around the 40 Developmental Assets with a Word of the Week.  Teachers provide an environment conducive to critical thinking, appropriate decision-making, and exploration of individual choices and behaviors. Also, during this time we will be implementing Study Island for students that need extra help for EOC preparation.

Eastern High School has many great academic and extracurricular courses, programs, and activities. We hope that your student will take full advantage of all that Eastern has to offer.  Student have the ability to take a full course load and earn college credits without ever leaving campus.  In addition, we offer the opportunity to attend college courses off campus as well. We also offer a wide variety of clubs and athletic opportunities.

High School is a wonderful time and we hope that your student has a great experience here at Eastern High School.  Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns.

Respectfully,

Bill Garrett                                                                                                                                                                           Principal
