Eastern Local School District is excited to announce the launch of a SUMMER Food Program
The Eastern Local School District is excited to announce the launch of a SUMMER Food Program. The ELSD and the other Brown County schools have formed a partnership with UMC Food Ministry, a faith based organization affiliated with The United Methodist Church. UMC Food Ministry operates across Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati, working with nonprofits to ensure children and youth have access to free, healthy meals. They are primarily funded through the USDA Food and Nutrition Service and serve all communities, regardless of religious affiliation.
During the summer, UMCFOOD plans to provide 7-day meal boxes to every child that resides within our district boundaries at NO COST. These will be delivered weekly to the homes of the students. This includes home school students, children not yet enrolled in school, and children that attend another school but live in our district boundaries. Any student residing in Brown County should have access to this program. UMCFOOD will prepare meal boxes at our Covington, KY location, and bring them daily to a central spot in our school district, where vans owned by UMCFOOD will be loaded and then delivered to students' homes.
